There are no accounts here. Every preference below is stored in this browser only, and none of them is ever sent anywhere.
Two things on this page do leave your device, both under an anonymous id this browser generated for itself and nothing else. Voting sends the photo, the direction and that id, at the moment you vote. Device sync, at the bottom of the page, uploads your saved-photo list and that id — when you ask for a code, and again when you enter one from another device. Saved photos are otherwise local, and nothing here is tied to a name, an email or an account.
Browsing
Which view opens when you visit the site with no view already chosen in the URL — the plain photo grid, or the full-screen swipe/scroll view.
Restricts the whole collection to photos from sources with an explicit, verifiable license (Flickr, Commons). Off shows every source.
Which photo sources appear on the wall. Selecting none is read as no filter — every source is shown, not zero.
All sources
Shuffle sorts by a stable per-seed hash of each photo's id; Top sorts by net vote score (upvotes minus downvotes).
Reorders the wall when Wall order above is set to Shuffle. Everyone sees the same order until you reshuffle.
Default order
How many columns the grid packs in — Comfortable is the widest photos, Ultra fits the most per screen.
Skips photos this browser has already upvoted or downvoted, so the wall only shows what you haven't judged yet.
Immersive view
On wraps back to the first photo after the last one in the full-screen view; off stops the reel at the last photo.
Automatically moves to the next photo in the full-screen view after this many seconds. Off leaves advancing to swipes or scrolls.
What double-tapping a photo does in the full-screen view — save it to your saved photos, or cast an upvote.
On lets a horizontal swipe in the full-screen view cast a vote; off leaves voting to the up/down buttons only.
Appearance
Light or dark colours for the whole site. System follows your OS's own light/dark setting.
Caps images to the smallest useful size instead of the sharpest one available, so pages load smaller and faster on a slow or metered connection.
Disables hover-zoom and swipe/scroll transition animations, regardless of your system setting. Your OS's own reduced-motion setting also disables them, independently of this toggle.

Forgets which photos this browser has upvoted or downvoted, so you can vote on them again from this browser. It does not un-cast votes already recorded on the server — the totals other people see don't change.
Replaces the random id this browser sends with each vote with a new one. It does not un-cast votes already recorded on the server under the old id — it only changes which id future votes use.
Generates a short code that copies your saved photos and votes to another device. It uploads this device’s anonymous id and saved-photo list to the sync server. Anyone who has this code can take over this identity, so don’t share it with anyone you don’t want to hand it to.
Restores every preference in Browsing, Immersive view and Appearance above to its default. Your votes and saved photos aren’t affected.
